Postnatal Depletion Syndrome is a term coined by Dr. S. of Australia after years of seeing women physically, mentally and emotionally worn down following the birth(s) of the precious babies. The symptoms include:
- Not feeling rested after a solid night’s sleep
- increased feelings of anxiousness or unworthiness
- intolerance to exercise
- nutritional deficits and depletion
- hormone imbalance
- I have also found many women also suffer from low back and pelvic pain and are more susceptible to muscle and joint injury
While most of these symptoms are common especially in the days and weeks following the birth of a baby, many women continue to experience many of these symptoms for months and even years!
This is the exact place I found myself in after having my 3rd baby in 2017. I just couldn’t seem to “bounce back” and I struggled with poor sleep, fatigue, increased feelings of stress and like I just wasn’t doing a good job.
